Because of their versatility, single-row deep-groove ball bearings are the most popular of the antifriction bearing types. They are available in a broad range of sizes, from miniature ball bearings with outside diameter of less than 9mm to extra-large bearings that exceed 1,500mm in diameter. Small and mid size bearings are also available in a variety of shield, seal and snap ring arrangements. Big ones normally are fitted with solid brass or steel cages.

Configuration of the cylindrical roller bearing is the simplest of all antifrication roller bearings. Cylindrical roller bearings are often used in high-speed applications. Because the inner ring,outer ring and rollers are in line contact,this bearing can accommodate large radical loads. Configurations having integral flanges or loose ribs on both the inner and outer rings will allow the cylindrical bearing to accept small amounts of axial loading. The raceways of both the inner and outer rings of this bearing type are made with a set contact angle.The bearings are nonseparable.The balls are inserted utilizing a counter-bore construction which allows a larger number of balls to be installed than in the case of deep-groove ball bearings.
Single-row angular contact ball bearings can sustain radial, axial or moment loads,however, any axial load must be applied in one direction.Due to their design, angular contact bearings will experience some amount of axial loading from any radial load that is applied.For this reason, they are often used in pairs.
